This is
the tenth anniversary of San Diego Bride & Groom magazine.
We like to think we have made some differences. Before our
magazine, there was no way to purchase a local bridal publication
on the newsstand. There were no locally written articles or
photographs or lists of reception sites. In fact, there was
nothing that recognized the unique territory that begins in
Southern Orange County and extends to Ensenada, Mexico.
Today, our proudest moments come when brides approach
our staff at meetings and bridal shows and tell us, "I couldn't
have done my wedding without this magazine." Wedding
planners tell us they give it to their clients. Photographers
say they receive calls from out-of-towners planning their
weddings here-some from as far away as Scotland.
The next ten years will bring major changes in the
way brides plan their weddings, in how they select their
vendors, their gowns and in how their grooms plan
honeymoons. We've already seen the beginnings of
this on the Internet. And the choices will multiply.
We like to think that, as a totally local magazine geared to the needs of the Southern California and Baja bride, as a source to be referred to again and again and one that is always at hand, we will be as much a part of that change as we were when we began.
